We're all big fans here at the Sin City Social Club...I can't tell you how many drunken nights have been spent singin' Here Comes My Girl at the top of our lungs in various living rooms across the country and we thought there was no better time than the present to bring the magic of our living rooms to music fans here in Austin!

In 2006, on one of our many beloved trips out to Joshua Tree, Polly Parsons and I met two British radio producers and music obsessives named Chris Price & Joe Harland.  They called themselves Missing Parsons. Our meeting, it turned out, was the beginning of an incredible journey. Chris & Joe were on a coast-to-coast quest to find the spirit of Gram Parsons, driving grave to cradle through the American musical wilderness, arriving in Gram’s birthplace of Winter Haven, Florida on what would have been his 60th birthday. That journey became a book, the hilarious and heart-warming Live Fast, Die Young: Misadventures in Rock & Roll America which tells – among many other things – how WE met in Joshua Tree (they refer to Mama Shi as "brash, buxom and bonkers" - ha!) , how they sold their souls to the devil on the same crossroads as Robert Johnson, tasted the loneliness of the Wichita Lineman, hung out with the spirit of Johnny Cash in his own front room and ended up nearly killing each other in the bargain.  It's an amazing tale of friendship and I'm honored to have been some sort of a catalyst during their journey!

So here’s the deal. Gram was all about turning people on to the music he loved. The Byrds went country on Sweetheart because of Gram, and Let It Bleed would never have sounded so authentically Southern if Keith hadn’t listened to so many records with our Cosmic American guardian angel.  In his short life Gram touched a lot of people with his music; to give something back, Sin City and Missing Parsons have teamed up to celebrate what would have been his 65th birthday with a competition that’s all about turning people on to his music. We have three prize packages to give away, each containing a *signed* copy of the book, a Missing Parsons t-shirt and the Live Fast, Die Young soundtrack album.
